Update Travel Info

Please see updated travel tips below:

Flights:
If you happen to fly Lufthansa or United you should try to fly into
Paderborn (PAD) or Muenster (FMO) since Lufthansa has connections
through Frankfurt or Munich. If the prices are much better with other
airlines you should fly into Duesseldorf or Hannover. You can also fly
into Amsterdam which is about 3 hours away.

Either way though I suggest you try to meet up with ppl and rent a car
to drive from either airport to the hotel in Marienfeld. If you were
to take a train you should look at www.bahn.de and go to Guetersloh.
We can arrange for a shuttle or so if a couple ppl get in at the same
time. Cabs are a little on the expensive side I think.

If you happen to travel within Germany before or after you should be
able to get to Guetersloh via train from any city. The dt. Bahn will
have specials that might make sense if you use the train more than
once or twice. It is called the Bahn Card.
Obviously driving might be fun too so if you are going to rent a car
you should make sure to rent one with automatic transmission bec
usually it will be a car with a stick shift.
We're sure many of you will be flying in around the same
time/date so it only makes sense to share cars wherever possible.

Please let me know your flight plans and I will take care of booking
the hotel for you. We have reserved rooms at the hotel Klosterpforte
(Saturday's event) and at the hotel Sonne which is connected to the
restaurant Manufaktur (Friday's event).

Schedule:
We are currently looking into a beer or schnaps tasting on Thursday so
if you are interested you should plan to arrive Wed night. We are also
looking into other group events like playing golf etc and will keep
you updated. Please let me know your travel plans so that we can plan
these events accordingly.

Hope this helps but please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have! We are sooo excited to spend the weekend with you!!

Travel Tips

Clarholz is centrally located in the mid-western part of Germany. The closest airports are Muenster-Osnabruck (FMO), Paderborn (PAD), Hannover (HAJ) and Duesseldorf (DUS). Once in Germany you can easily get around via rental car or train (http://www.diebahn.de/). Before booking your final trip and especially before finalizing your train tickets or rental cars please don't hesitate to contact me.

If you plan to combine this trip with a European vacation we suggest you travel the days before the celebration. There are a lot of holidays in May when Germans tend to travel, therefore airline ticket prices and the cost of other travel accommodations most likely will increase following the wedding celebration.

Germany offers many lovely tourist destinations. Personally, I think the trip from Berlin with Potsdam to Hamburg, to Clarholz, to Cologne and finally to Munich would be a lot of fun.

For more details see the lonelyplanet info below and the links to the left below the pictures.

A stop in Amsterdam could round out the trip perfectly. Amsterdam is very close to Clarholz so you can probably throw that in at any time.

May weather in Germany might be a tad colder than what you might hope for, think summer in San Francisco. Be sure to pack a warm sweater and a rain jacket just in case. If you would like to get some sun, France, Spain, Italy or Croatia will be the best destinations because Southern Europe will already be beautiful and warm.

Don’t forget to get your tickets early. Prices are great right now, however, the longer you wait the more likely the cost will increase.

We have reserved rooms at the hotel and would love to assist with booking them. Furthermore please feel free to contact us with any questions.
I am here to help ;)

Can't wait to see you!
